Spring Kite Fly & Barmouth Kite Festival

Saturday & Sunday 11th & 12th May
Saturday & Sunday 13th & 14th July

A Spring Kite Fly in May and the annual Kite Festival coinciding with the Paddlesport Event in July. Both weekends will feature a colourful display of kites in all shapes & sizes - flying from 10-5 each day - opposite the lifeboat station.

Fairbourne Miniature Railway 'Little to Large' Steam Engines in Action!

Sunday & Monday 26th & 27th May

Everything in steam, including miniature models and traction engines.

Three Peaks Yacht Race

Starts from Barmouth, Saturday 15th June

Race start is preceded by a procession of the yachts from the harbour (1pm) to the start line off shore, with many events, stalls & music on the quayside to entertain onlookers. The race proceeds to Caernarfon where two crew members race to the summit of Snowdon, then on to Whitehaven for the ascent of Scafell Pike , finally Fort William & Ben Nevis.

Family Fun Day

Saturday 29th June

Taking place in Talbot Square in the centre of Barmouth, this community organised fun day will have plenty to entertain locals and visitors alike.

Very popular, two day festival of Country and Western music and dancing in Talbot Square.

Life boat

Mawddach Paddlesports Festival

Saturday & Sunday 13th & 14th July

Two days of Canoe, Kayak and Celtic Longboat Events & Challenges for all the family. All taking place in the dramatic setting of Barmouth Harbour and Mawddach Estuary. Includes: Quayside Demonstrations, Kayak Events, Open Canoe Raft Races, Supervised Paddle & Paddler Development Sessions, Trade Stands and Saturday Evening BBQ Party - plenty of fun things to do and see for all ages.

Cytser - Harlech Castle Events

Various dates, July and August

Gilbert & Sullivan, Shakespeare, Family Shows and Film Screenings all taking place outdoors in a dramatic setting within the walls of Harlech Castle.

Heart of Wales Vintage Lorry Rally

Saturday 7th September

Dozens of colourful, wonderfully kept, classic lorries and vintage commercial vehicles arrive in convoy in Barmouth as part of their 240 mile run. They park up on the main car park 1 - 3pm.

Barmouth Arts Festival

7th - 14th September

This week long festival is a mix of classical and popular entertainment including performances by professional and local artists in music concerts and drama productions, plus exhibitions.

Barmouth Walking Festival

Saturday 14th - Monday 23rd September

Participants return year after year to enjoy up to ten days of guided walks around the Mawddach Estuary and Southern Snowdonia. In 2012 around 150 walkers took part in the festival, completing almost 400 walks between them. This year a Jazz Festival and a Beer Festival run concurrently (see following events). The Barmouth Walking Festival programme of 30 graded walks provides an excellent opportunity to try both little known routes and some of the most popular in the area. There are walks for all abilities, led by knowledgeable local guides, ranging from short two hour rambles, to full day, high level hikes, all taking place in some of the finest walking countryside in Wales.

Llanbedr Beer Festival

Friday & Saturday 20th & 21st September

Gaining in popularity every year, this is a weekend of real ale (including local brews), real live music and splendid Welsh hospitality, all taking place in the picturesque village of Llanbedr on the banks of the Artro River, approximately seven miles north of Barmouth.

Barnardos 20 Mile Sponsored Walk

Saturday 12th October

A well supported annual event raising thousands of pounds for Barnardos and making a very worthwhile opportunity to enjoy walking in Southern Snowdonia.

Barmouth Motocross Weekend

Saturday & Sunday 26th & 27th October

Motor cycles and quad bikes race on a specially prepared circuit on Barmouth's extensive sands. The thrills and spills can be viewed from the safety of the promenade.

November and December Events

Barmouth's Bonfire and Firework Display takes place on the beach by the Bath House, probably on Saturday 2nd November (TBC) and the town's Festive Late Night Shopping Event usually takes place on the first Thursday in December. Fairbourne Miniature Railway also has Santa Specials running on Saturday & Sunday 21st & 22nd December. Booking is essential for this atmospheric train ride and lovely gift from Santa.
